Let me tell you a story:

In the 7th grade, each student took a turn answering what they wanted to be when they grew up. I said the president. And the whole class laughed. Even the (male) teacher laughed. I wondered - if a boy had said the same thing, would anyone laugh?

In history class, we only learned about great men. But when I looked deeper- women were there. I found women building monuments in Egypt and storming the beaches of Normandy.

These legendary women inspire me to create imagery that feel ripped from the pages of an old book. Embodying these characters from our myths connects us with deeper, ancestral understanding of the world around us.

We can be the heroes of our own stories.
